Product Spotlight: Life is Better With Tito’s Handmade Vodka

At Tricky Fish, we’re southern made and southern proud, and we love supporting other southern businesses that just get us and our philosophy. One such company is fellow Texas native, Tito’s Handmade Vodka.

Founded in Austin, Texas, Tito’s began pretty much by accident. Tito Beveridge was an oil and gas guy, turned mortgage guy, who found a love for making homemade flavored vodka. His interest grew (and the mortgage industry was suffering), so he began learning everything he could about distilling vodka, and through old-fashioned trial and error, Tito’s Handmade Vodka as born.

We all know and love Tito’s because it smooth. Add it to a cocktail or drink it straight, it won’t bite you. Here are a few cocktails at Tricky Fish in Richardson, Texas that feature this delicious Texas craft vodka:

Filthy Pineapple Mule: This one is a favorite – not only because it tastes great – but it also comes in a giant mule mug built for two to share! Experience the flavors of pineapple infused Tito’s vodka and filthy cherries.

Lime in the Coco: Okay…so this is basically a mule! The difference is a little coconut. Experience the delicious flavors of Tito’s, coconut, lime juice, and ginger beer.

Bloody Mary: Join us for brunch and order one of our Tricky Fish Bloody Marys! We use a house mix that has a slight kick to it, then mix in Tito’s and garnish with boiled shrimp. Yum!

Hola Peno Mango Mule: Looking for something different? A little sweet and a little spicy, the Hola Peno Mango Mule features mangos and jalapenos mixed with Tito’s and ginger beer. Yes, it sounds weird but trust us – it’s delicious!

Thirsty yet? Come order your favorite vodka drink at Tricky Fish and be sure to ask for Tito’s Handmade vodka! We’ll save a seat for you at the best new restaurant in Richardson, Texas.

Fresh Richardson Seafood – Get it at Tricky Fish!

Tricky Fish is known for a lot of things – great atmosphere, handcrafted cocktails, scratch kitchen cooking – but our roots are really in our fresh Richardson seafood.

Our philosophy is simple food with simple preparation methods – and you can’t beat the seafood! Here are several seafood entrees to try this week at Tricky Fish, located in CityLine of Richardson:

The Tricky Fish

Let’s start with our signature dish. It’s blackened tilapia, served with our signature dirty rice, and smothered in delicious crawfish etouffee. Would you rather have salmon or redfish? No problem. Simply tell your server and we’ll prepare our Tricky Fish the same way, just substituting the fish we prepare. It’s seafood you’re way and you’re sure to love it!

Grilled Salmon

Light, flaky – this grilled salmon has it all! We drizzle in a jalapeno Parmesan butter, and pair with potato hash and shishitos (sweet Asian peppers for those unfamiliar.)

Grilled Redfish

Our tender grilled redfish comes with a warm wilted spinach salad and fried onions. You’ll love the way the flavors compliment each other and create balance.

Blackened Salmon

Bringing in a Caribbean vibe, the blackened salmon comes with a delicious mango relish. But don’t worry, we don’t get too crazy because you still get our signature dirty rice and shishitos as well.

Lemon Pepper Shrimp Tacos

One of the most popular of our fresh Richardson seafood options, the shrimp tacos can’t be beat for lunch or dinner! Three tacos are included, each one laden in the cilantro cream sauce that makes them famous. Then enjoy either the French fries or our homemade slaw on the side and you’re got a perfect meal. Well, almost perfect – add a craft beer or cocktail to round out the meal.

The Secret to the Perfect Muffaletta

The Secret to the Perfect Muffaletta

If you’re craving the unique and delicious taste of a muffaletta from New Orleans, look no further that Tricky Fish in Richardson, Texas! Tricky Fish has a variety of New Orleans cuisine, prepared simply with authentic ingredients reminiscent of the French Quarter. So what’s the secret to the perfect muffaletta? We actually think there are 5 things to look for:

1.    The Bread: Muffaletta bread is unique in that it’s crusty on the outside, while spongy and porous on the inside. We ship our bread in from New Orleans for true authenticity, but if you’re making one at home, just look for a soft, round Italian loaf with sesame seeds.

2.    Olive Salad: The olive salad is another critical ingredient to the overall flavor of the sandwich. You can either buy this in the store, or make one yourself (just don’t forget to let it marinate a few days before serving!)

3.    Marinate: Speaking of marinating, muffalettas are best when they’ve been prepared in advance, allowing the flavors and juices of the olive salad to soak into the spongy bread. Prepare your sandwich at least 2 hours in advance for maximum flavor.

4.    Italian Meats: At Tricky Fish, we make our muffalettas with traditional Italian ham and salame, paired with provolone. Remember – the higher quality of the meats, the better the flavor, so never skimp on your deli favorites (we certainly never do!) or you’ll taste the difference.

5.    Compress: Another great way to blend the flavors? Compression! If you’re making a muffaletta at home, simply wrap it up in wax paper or foil, and press it down with a heavy pot or pan to evenly distribute flavors.

Ready to grab the best lunch in Richardson and craving a muffaletta? Skip the trouble of making it at home and visit us at Tricky Fish! We pride ourselves on making a mean muffaletta, but we also have other great sandwiches for lunch, including po’boys, the fish sandwich, the Pig & Poultry, or the classic cheeseburger.
